Jacob Baron
#About
Jacob has lived in Alberta his whole life. He moved to Calgary when he was about 2 years old and began skiing shortly after. Jacob joined his first team at 7 years old with the Nakiska ski race team and then spent several years skiing at Sunshine Village and Lake Louise Ski Resort with the CFRZ and SAFSC freestyle ski teams. During this time, he was exposed to both the big mountain and freestyle ski culture and for a lack of better words, instantly fell in love. At the end of his 2020/21 season Jacob received an invitation to the 2021/22 Alberta Park and Pipe team as a result of success at National and North American competitions. As Jacob grows older and his skiing evolves, he finds his passion for skiing pulling him more in the direction of all mountain free ride and backcountry riding.
#5QuickQuestions
1) What’s your favourite place you’ve ever skied? Revelstoke, BC, without a doubt. 2) Which skiers inspire you? My list is long, as I find inspiration from several athletes in various ski disciples. However, one skier who definitely sticks out to me is Cole Richardson, his style is unreal! 3) Are you team resort or backcountry? I love my time in the backcountry as the snow is unbeatable, however, there’s no way I’d be able to give up the chairlift full time. My resort skiing has trained me for the backcountry so I guess I’m team both at this point! 4) Where do you wish to ski in the future? I’ve yet to experience Whistler in the winter so that’s a huge bucket list item. 5) How would you describe your skiing style? All mountain with a freestyle flare. I like to ski steep lines with good snow while throwing in a park trick or two.

School remains a huge priority for me. Over the next few years I hope to couple my academic pursuits with my passion for skiing, hopefully landing me in some great ski locations with epic snow. Definitely spending more time in the backcountry and potentially having the opportunity to dabble in some filming.
