Oakley was started in 1975 by Jim Jannard with $300 in hard cash and a great idea: make products that work and look better than anything else out there. Jim's first invention was a motorcycle handgrip with a unique tread and shape to fit the rider's closed hand. Jim's next creation was the O Frame goggle with a lens curved in a perfect arc; he then "reinvented" sunglasses for sports. When Greg LeMond, 3-time winner of the Tour de France, began wearing Oakleys, Oakley knew it was on the right track.
