Norrona's most durable waterproof mittens.

These rugged mittens are made for demanding alpine climbing but work perfectly for all-season mountaineering adventures and expeditions.

They are made in premium GORE-TEX® PRO fabric, and we use this because it’s the world-leading quality for durable waterproofness (28,000mm), optimized breathability, and total windproofness. Premium Pittard goat skin ensures grip and comfort.

The main fabric is a 3L 70D GORE-TEX® PRO most rugged fabric (RET less than 9) with a 100% recycled nylon face. This ensures durable, reliable weather protection and optimized breathability at a lower weight, perfect for active movement. The long-lasting Pittards Armortan goat leather in the palm and thumb gives great grip.

Key features include: Pulling strap in the cuff, elastic one hand closure system, lightweight wrist tightening, and elastic gloves leash.

The gloves are medium long.

Heavy duty shell mittens

Please note these mitts go with the Norrona 29 Wool Pile liner mittens. Together these make an awesome combo of warmth and durability. I love the long cuffs that go far enough up your arm and the pull tab cinches nice and tight so absolutely no snow gets in. The hand leash is super useful to keep the mitts from falling into the snow when you take them off. Please note these mitts are BIG. I use a size XL Kombi and sized down to an L for these with still plenty of room. Room enough for a “base layer” liner glove underneath the wool pile liner. Initially I used these mitts with just the wool pile liner on a cold -16 day where I wasn’t exerting much, and my hands did still get cold. But then I put liner gloves on underneath the wool pile mitts, and with that plus hand warmers my hands got nice and toasty and stayed that way. So if your hands run cold generally as mine do, and if you’re not exercising a whole lot, you’ll have to get a bit technical like that. But it’s well worth it, I finally feel like I have a totally effective solution for keeping my hands warm, fully insulated and dry in winter conditions. These mitts feel very durable, they have already dealt with some intense bushwhacking without a scrape and I’m sure they will continue to deliver.
